Pixel pitch is the distance between adjacent pixels, measured in millimeters from the center of one pixel to the center of the other. We offer displays in 0.9mm, 1.25mm, 1.538mm, 1.875mm, 2.5 mm, 2.6mm ,2.8mm, etc. The resolution of a display depends on the number of LEDs per square foot, which is also referred to as “LED density.” This is the main factor in determining a display’s image quality. The more LEDs per square foot, the sharper the image. LED density should be higher at closer viewing distances. Resolution is the total number of pixels in a display. Given a fixed square footage, the “tighter” the pitch, the higher the resolution.

This question is most often asked in comparison to projectors and projector screens. The projected image is a reflection, not actually a light source, so the maximum brightness you can get off of a reflection is never enough in sunlight verses a LED screen.

LED Screens are light-emitters, as opposed to standard projection screens which are light-reflectors. This means that the screen is the light source, so you get brighter images and more vibrant colors. The colors produced by LED in a range greater than most video cameras are capable of capturing! Unlike projection screens, LED Screens are usable in bright environments such as convention centers, stages with full scenic lighting, and even the sunny outdoors.

Another question we get often is in comparison to flat panel television walls. In this scenario, several TV’s are butted together to make the wall. The most glaring problem is the seams between the walls. Viewed side by side, the LED screen is one large seamless screen where the TV panel matrix’s seams are constantly, jarringly there. It’s very hard for the brain to forget these seams,  they are a constant distraction and right in the middle of the image.

Which pixel pitch is right for you is based on a combination of factors, which include:

  1) The viewing distance, or range of distances, of your primary audience

  2) The content you intend to play on the display (video, pictures, ect.)

  3) How big your screen is

  4) Your budget

       Optimal viewing range is based on legibility of the smallest “standard”(seven pixel height) alpha‐numeric character for any given display pixel pitch. LED message centers are very dynamic and the viewing distances in the chart below are for general reference. Using different font types and styles can affect the legibility of the display greatly. With enough distance, virtually any pitch of display will blend into a continuous image – where pixilation (seeing individual diodes or pixels) is no longer present in the display. If a user is only displaying text, pixilation may not be a large concern. However, this usually becomes a much bigger issue if the user is intending to run images or video on the display.

      Below is a quick reference for optimal viewing distance (the distance at which an image looks clear, non-pixelated) based on pixel pitch.

It’s hard to explain the difference in words. Regarding foldable, the whole Slim series can be called foldable, whereas, product series like Aqua, is named flexible because they are made of soft materials which show even greater “flexibility”. Strictly speaking, flexible＞foldable, introduction like “a foldable/flexible LED screen manufacturer” occurs because foldable LED screen is our flagship product. In addition, there are some physical limitations on foldable or flexible screens, for the foldable angle of the foldable LED screen please refer to the table in Q2. As for the “flexibility” of the flexible LED screen, let’s say “rolled diameter” , it shall be larger than 10~30 centimeters.
